The Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA7) and the Cebu Technological University (CTU-TC)-Tuburan Campus recently launched the School-on-the-Air (SOA) program dubbed ‘Tunghaan sa Kaumahan’.
The SOA program will commence its airing by January 2021 over CTU-TC’s DYPS BT Radio every Saturday at 6-7 in the morning.
DA7 Regional Technical Director Marina T. Hermoso explained that the partnership of the DA and the CTU is aimed to strengthen the extension services of the said institutions.
“This is in response to Agriculture Secretary William Dar’s directives to enhance the information dissemination of the agricultural interventions for our farmers and fishers,” Hermoso said.
She added that the SOA program will incorporate the climate-resilient technologies in agriculture production.
The partnership of the DA7 and the CTU-TC is anchored on the exchange of information among the DA specialists and the academe.
CTU-TC Campus Director Dr. Pedrito Pontillas expressed his gratitude for the partnership.
The DA will anchor the program with CTU as the co-host. In CTU-TC, the college of agriculture as the anchor department has lined up guests and discussants from their pool of faculty experts.
Among the topics to be discussed on air are crops and livestock productions and agribusiness.
The SOA program targets the farmers in Tuburan and neighboring towns as the enrollees. # # # (DA-RFO VII, RAFIS)
