Aspiring fisheries scholars from across the country can now apply for the Fisheries Scholarship Program (FSP) offered by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) for School Year (SY) 2020-2021.
The scholarship has two program components namely the Fisheries Industry Leader Grant (FILG) for high school graduates who belong to the Top 10 of their graduating class; and the Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) for high school graduates whose parents or legal guardians are registered municipal fisherfolk.
“The scholarship will give these deserving high school graduates the opportunity to pursue their dreams in the field of fisheries in leading state universities. This also gives us the assurance that the country will not run out of competent fisheries professionals who will work for the sustainable development and management of the country’s fisheries and aquatic resources,” BFAR National Director Eduardo B. Gongona said.
