Your child’s sleep is interrupted by that familiar buzzing sound, and then the incessant crying begins. Worried, you reach for that mosquito repellent lotion you had always used, a brand you have trusted for years.
But, then you think, is this really safe for my child? Is there a natural-based lotion out there that could protect my baby from mosquitoes?
Now there is. The Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) has developed a natural-based mosquito repellent lotion for those with sensitive skin, such as children.
The lotion has been formulated to protect children from disease-carrying mosquitoes, especially the species that carry dengue, Aedes aegypti. It is made with essential oils extracted from natural plant sources, namely citronella, lemongrass, eucalyptus, patchouli, Manila elemi, pomelo, and lanzones.
Natural Mosquito Repellent Lotion is one of 21 ITDI-developed technologies selected to be featured in Cluster 2 – Aging Society, Health, and Medical Care of the 2019 National S&T Week (NSTW) Exhibits slated on July 17-21, 2019 at the World Trade Center-Metro Manila. Admission to the exhibits is FREE. It is open to the public from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
