Manila Water installs more line boosters for elevated areas

In its steadfast commitment to restore 24/7 water supply amidst the water shortage crisis, Manila Water has completed the installation of a total of sixty-four (64) line boosters across the East Zone. This will further increase water availability to the current 98% of the customer base of Manila Water that are now receiving water supply for at least 8 hours at ground floor level. These line boosters are among the technical solutions to extend water supply to elevated areas and those farthest from distribution facilities.

Line boosters are pumps installed on pipelines to increase pressure in order to push water to the challenging areas located at higher elevations and convey water where it is needed. To date, twenty-four (24) line boosters have been installed in Quezon City, nine (9) in Taguig City, and three (3) in Mandaluyong City. For Rizal, fourteen (14) have been installed in Rodriguez, three (3) each in San Mateo and Antipolo City, two (2) in Binangonan, and one (1) each in Taytay and Angono, and additional three (3) in Pasig City and Rizal. More line boosters are scheduled for installation within the coming weeks at various locations in Quezon City and in Antipolo City, Binangonan, and Rodriguez in Rizal.

Other technical solutions that Manila Water is implementing to further increase water availability in the remaining pocket areas with intermittent water supply include valving and network adjustments, looping and interconnection of lines as well as other after-the-meter rectifications.

As of May 8, Manila Water has been able to reduce the supply deficit from 150 million liters per day down to 54 million liters per day with the operation of the Cardona Water Treatment Plant which now delivers up to 50 MLD.  Additional supply comes from rehabilitated deep wells which produce about 30 MLD and cross border flows at 16 MLD. #(MWC Corporate Communications)
