MONSANTO BRINGS ITS STORYTELLING ACTIVITY TO BICOL
More than 300 students and teachers attended the storytelling activity conducted by Monsanto Philippines at Kilicao Elementary School .

Monsanto Philippines recently brought its story-telling activity to Kilicao Elementary School in Bicol. More than 300 students attended the activity which discussed the impact of agricultural biotechnology at a level that elementary school children can appreciate.

“We are very happy to do our share in getting students interested in agriculture,” said Monsanto Philippines’ Corporate Affairs Lead Chat Ocampo. “We used our children’s book titled “Lina’s Town Rises Again” which was inspired by the true story of a successful lady farmer in Sultan Kudarat, Mrs. Consolacion “Conching” Reyes.  We shared, in a very informative but entertaining manner, how planting biotech corn was able to transform Aling Conching’s life and the lives of corn farmers in her community.”

Meantime, the story-telling activity also included a question and answer portion. “We ask them questions about the story and we are pleased that the students are really able to answer our questions which is an indication that they understood the story,” said Ocampo.

Monsanto has conducted their story-telling activities in major areas all over the Philippines, including Davao City, Tuguegarao City, Quezon City, Iloilo City and key municipalities in Bukidnon and Davao Del Sur.

Kilicao Elementary School Principal, Mr. Rafael Miranda, thanked Monsanto for choosing their school for the said activity. “We are glad that the story got our students interested in science and agriculture,” he said. “This is an activity that they will not forget for quite some time.” (Monsanto Philippines Corporate Communications)
