QC OFFERS NEW PROGRAM TRACKS FOR K+12 THRU PPP

As an initiative to enrich its program offerings for senior high school under the K+12 program, the Quezon City government partnered with Magna Anima Education System through a memorandum of agreement signed last August 19, 2015.  Main signatories were Mayor Herbert Bautista and Dr. Carmelo A. Caluag for Magna Anima.

The MOA will provide the following tracks for the city’s public senior high school students through specialized facilities that will be built in specific schools. Visual, Design and Performing Arts at the Esteban Abada High School; Media Arts at Kamuning Elementary School; Sports Track at the Belarmino Sports Complex; and Maritime studies at the Apolonio Samson High School.

Magna Anima Education System will operate and maintain the facilities for three years, beginning academic year 2016 – 2017. They will also train the principals, faculty and administration staff during this three-year period, to prepare them to be able to manage the facilities by themselves after the transfer of these facilities to the Division of City Schools – Quezon City .  DepEd – QC and Magna Anima will jointly develop the criteria for the selection and admission of students under these tracks.

As support, the city government will provide tax incentives allowed by law.  It shall also provide an additional PhP 5,000 voucher per student per year, on top of the voucher provided by DepEd – QC.

A program management team composed of representatives from the city government, DepEd-QC and Magna Anima will be created to oversee the formulation and supervision of plans and programs for these facilities.  Magna Anima Education System is a subsidiary of ABS-CBN.

This agreement is an example of public-private partnerships that Mayor Bautista has pushing for, to build up on resources, skills and knowledge base that can add value to the city government’s programs for its constituents.
