QC TO FUND BUSINESS DATABANK PROJECT

The Quezon City government has rolled out a Php 4 million investment to facilitate the    establishment of the QC Business Registry Databank that will serve as a repository of relevant economic and business information for investors, particularly on business establishments operating in the city.

The QC government has partnered with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – QC Chapter to facilitate the operationalization of the project, which is being established as an offshoot of City Ordinance SP-1429.

A memorandum of agreement was signed between Mayor Herbert Bautista and PCCI-QC president Carl Balita to seal the partnership on the occasion of the 23rd Metro Manila Business Conference at the Manila Hotel last Friday (July 31).

“We expect that this databank will make it easier for businesses to form supply contracts and networking arrangements to further enterprise needs,” the Mayor said.

To set up the system, the city government has already negotiated for the free use of a space at Ali Mall in Cubao to house the Business Resource and Innovation Center or Negosyo Center.

Aside from PCCI-QC, the project will also be ably supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the office of Senator Bam Aquino.

As provided under the memorandum of agreement, the budget for the subsequent years of operation shall be included in the annual appropriations of the city’s business permits and licensing office.

With the Mayor at the signing of the agreement were city administrator Aldrin Cuña, business permits and licensing office chief Garry Domingo, city assessor Rodolfo Ordanes, communications coordination center chief Regina Samson and city treasurer Edgar Villanueva.

Aside from the establishment of the QC Business Registry Data Bank, Mayor Bautista also announced that the city will soon be opening up the Building Regulatory Office (BRO) at QC Hall which shall serve as a one-stop-shop for building permit applications in the city.  He also encouraged new corporations to use the city government’s on-line business registration, QC eServces, to register their enterprises in Quezon City.

With its establishment, the Mayor said, applicants for building permits will no longer have to go to different offices just to obtain their location clearance, building permits and fire safety inspection certificates.  There will also be an integrated receiving counter, evaluation units and payment counter.

Quezon City, recently recognized by the National Competitiveness Council as the country’s leading local government unit in terms of economic dynamism, was also one of the 32 exhibitors during the 23rd Metro Manila Business Conference. (Precy)
