Local Government of Basco, Batanes consults DTI for the improvement of BPLS  

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Batanes Provincial Caretaker, Ms. Marietta B. Salviejo, and Basco, Batanes Municipal Mayor Hon. Demetrius Paul C. Narag, discussed strategies and efficient systems for business improvements of Local Government Unit (LGU) -Batanes in a meeting held at Basco Municipal Hall.

The agenda primarily focused on processing Business Name Registration (BNR), a basic requirement in securing a Mayor’s Business Permit.

Mayor Narag said that, the LGU is more than willing to extend necessary assistance to DTI in implementing its services especially in processing BNRs.

In support to this, an agreement was made between DTI and LGU-Batanes wherein a desk will be provided for DTI at the LGU for the processing of BNR especially during peak of registration.

He also said that, conduct of orientation on BNR including nature of businesses and capitalization will be very beneficial for business owners and as well as for DTI and LGUs. He is planning to mandate all business establishments in the municipality to use a uniform signage, to create a unique mark for business centers in the municipality.

The use of an LGU-unified form for Business Processing and Licensing System (BPLS) has been adopted and establishment of a one-stop-shop by 2016 was suggested.

Other topics discussed during the meeting were on Timbangan ng Bayan, updates on the Product Standards (PS) monitoring and enforcement, among others.

He also expressed support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) development specially with the launching of Negosyo Center.
