Diskwento Caravan, Business Name Registration showcased at Kalayaan 2015 Celebrations

The Department of Trade and Industry – National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCRO) will join other government agencies who will offer services and conduct promotional activities of their various programs and projects for the 117th Philippine Independence Day celebration on June 11-12, 2015 at the Rizal Park grounds.

The Department of Trade and Industry – National Capital Region Office (DTI-NCRO) will showcase the Diskwento Caravan, which will offer products and services at discounted prices. For this year’s Independence Day offering, a total of 46 manufacturers, producers, distributors and wholesalers have committed to offer 10 to 50 percent discount off their suggested retail price (SRP). Products range from school uniforms, bags, school supplies, processed milk, breads, cooking oils, canned meat products, processed meat, sauces, eggs, noodles, delicacies, and personal care products. The Shoe Caravan, composed of 18 footwear manufacturers from Marikina City, will also be on hand to sell quality footwear during the festivities.

Business name registration and SME consultation services will also be provided by DTI-NCRO and Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (DTI-BSMED).

The Diskwento Caravan is one of the banner programs of the DTI conducted nationwide with the aim of helping consumers stretch their budget through price discounts offered by the participating manufacturers, producers, distributors and wholesalers.

The Diskwento Caravan mirrors the Aquino administration’s flagship Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program with both big and small businesses throwing their support to the project.

The Diskwento Caravan started in 2008 as a non-wage benefit to income earners to help ease the economic burden of consumers during the global financial crisis.
