Suspected residue of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu contained in a glass tube was seized from a 64-year-old American citizen at the departure checkpoint area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City.
Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., Director General of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as Samuel Santos, alias Sammy, a resident of Nevada, USA.
Santos was arrested on June 23, 2015 at around 7:30 in the morning by joint elements of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) composed of PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR) Airport Interdiction Unit under Director Erwin Ogario, Office for Transportation Security (OTS), PNP-Aviation Security Group and NAIA Airport Police after Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) K9 unit subjected Santos’ baggage for sniffing that yielded positive for the presence of dangerous drugs. Santos is a departing passenger bound to Japan.
Santos is presently under the custody of PDEA RO-NCR. He will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of RA 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Mr. Glenn J.
