7 KILOS OF MARIJUANA SEIZED DURING BUY-BUST IN DAVAO DEL SUR

Seven kilos of dried marijuana leaves were seized by combined anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) during a buy-bust operation in Davao del Sur on June 14, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that a suspect identified as Alex Sekin, alias Robin, 40 years old, and a resident of Purok 2, Brgy. Bolol Salo, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur, was arrested during the operation.

At around 4:15 pm, combined elements of the PDEA Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO 11 under the direct supervision of Director Emerson R. Rosales, Kiblawan Municipal Police Station, Davao del Sur Provincial Intelligence Branch, Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office, Davao del Sur Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force conducted a buy-bust operation in Purok 2, Brgy. Balasiao, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur which resulted to the confiscation of more or less seven kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa, locally known as marijuana, placed inside a colored cellophane with an estimated market value of Php 245,000 and the P500 bills buy-bust money used during the operation, and arrest of Sekin.

Sekin will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

On June 11, 2015, at around 8:01 am, the same law enforcement unit together with the Monkayo Police Station, Compostela Valley Provincial Police Office, Compostela Valley Provicial Intelligence Unit 11 implemented a search warrant issued by the Honorable Dorothy P. Montejo, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court  Branch 3, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley Province against Jonifer Reformina Cortez, alias Dodong, 30, laborer; and Norman Plaza Reformina, 42. All suspects are residents of National Highway, Purok 2, Brgy. Poblacion, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Cortez and Reformina and the confiscation of 30 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P27,000, one Grandstar 125 motorcycle, 11 disposable lighters, one aluminum foil, one pair of scissors, three used needles, three pieces of bamboo sticks, three blades and 14 cuts of aluminum foils.

Charges for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment and Other Drug Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165, will be filed in court against Cortez and Reformina.(Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
