500 TABLETS OF ECSTASY SEIZED BY PDEA, BOC, PHILPOST

Five hundred (500) tablets of Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) popularly known as Ecstasy, were seized by operatives of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) during the inspection of intercepted parcel at the Central Exchange Center of the Philippine Postal Corporation in Pasay City on June 19, 2015.

The tablets were concealed in an aluminum pack placed inside a black plastic pouch and have an estimated value of P500,000.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the package was sent by a certain J M de Jong of Acacia Street, 2 2023PK Haarlem, The Netherlands and the consignee was identified as Ryan Tongco of Unit 2, 22A Emerald Street, Cainta Greenpark Village, Cainta, Rizal. Also indicated is the return
address 50997 Koln, Germany if the package is undelivered.

The seized tablets were turned over to PDEA Regional Office National Capital Region–NAIA-IADITG which in turn handed over to PDEA Laboratory Service for forensic examination.

Cacdac said the inspection of the intercepted parcel was conducted by operatives of the PDEA, Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Postal Corporation, all member agencies of the NAIA-IADITG.

The NAIA-IADITG was created following a memorandum of agreement signed by PDEA, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Office of the Transportation Security (OTS), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Justice-National Prosecution Service (DOJ), BOC, Philippine National Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF), Bureau of Immigration and the PNP Aviation Security
Group on September 29, 2011.

The NAIA-IADITG was created to effectively synchronize anti-illegal drug efforts to prevent the NAIA from being exploited as entry and exit points for drug trafficking.  (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
