2 OLONGAPO DRUG DEALERS GET LIFE FOR SHABU SALE

Two dealers of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, will spend their lives in prison after the court found them guilty beyond reasonable doubt for selling the illegal drug in Olongapo City.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General, Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr., commends Presiding Judge Roline M. Ginez-Jabalde of the Regional Trial Court Branch 74 in Olongapo City for the conviction of Abubakar Rakiin and Faisal Malawad on February 6 and 27, 2015, respectively, for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Rakiin and Malawad were sentenced to suffer life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of P500,000.

Rakiin and Malawad were arrested by combined elements of PDEA Regional Office 3 (PDEA RO3) and City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (CAIDSOTF) Olongapo City during separate buy-bust operations in Olongapo City on December 7, 2012 and January 5, 2013, respectively.

The Olongapo court also sentenced Rakiin and Malawad to a minimum prison term of 12 years and one day to a maximum of 20 years of imprisonment after they were found guilty for violating Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of the anti-drug law. (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
