One thousand three hundred fifty (1,358) tablets of Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) popularly known as Ecstasy, were seized by operatives of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport-Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) during the inspection of an intercepted parcel at the Central Exchange Center of the Philippine Postal Corporation in Pasay City on June 29, 2015.
The tablets that were concealed in a box parcel sealed in aluminum foil pack have an estimated value of P2,037,000 and was declared as comic books.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the package was sent by a certain J M de Jong of Acacia Straat, 2 2023PK Haarlem, The Netherlands and the consignee was identified as Ryan Tongco of Unit 2, 22A Emerald Street, Cainta Greenpark Village, Cainta, Rizal.
An authorized representative of Tongco, identified as Eddon Dimagio T. Dalisay, 22 years old with an address at 19/F Office Tower, Ayala Avenue, Makati City, who claimed the parcel, was invited for investigation.
The seized tablets were turned over to the PDEA Regional Office National Capital Region–NAIA-IADITG which handed the evidence to the PDEA Laboratory Service for forensic examination.
“This seizure of ecstasy was a follow-up inspection on the interdiction that was conducted by operatives of the PDEA, Bureau of Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force and the Philippine Postal Corporation, all member agencies of the NAIA-IADITG last June 19, 2015 where 500 tablets of ecstasy addressed to Ryan Tongco were recovered”, Cacdac said.
