Two million pesos (P2,000,000) worth of fully-grown marijuana plants were destroyed by combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police(PNP) during marijuana eradication in Tinglayan, Kalinga on July 18,2015.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr.said that the teams, composed of agents from PDEA – Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR) under Director Juvenal B. Azurin,Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group-Provincial Intelligence Branch (PAIDSOTG-PIB), CAR-Regional Public Safety Battalion, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Intelligence Unit-14 and Tinglayan Municipal Police Station, conducted a marijuana
eradication in Mount Chumanchil, Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga which resulted in the confiscation and destruction of 10,000 fully grown marijuana plants.
No cultivator was arrested during the operation. The destroyed and burned on-site marijuana plants were uprooted from a plantation site with an estimated land area of 800 square meters.
