ONE KILO OF MARIJUANA CONFISCATED IN BUTUAN CITY

A kilogram of dried marijuana leaves was confiscated by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) from a drug pusher during a buy-bust operation in Butuan City on July 10, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr.identified the suspect as Jesus Licayan, 55 years old, a resident of Purok 26, Las Casas Elena, Baan 3, Butuan City.

At around 11:30 in the morning, joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 13 (PDEA RO13) Special Enforcement Team and PDEA SWAT Mindanao under Director Julius Navales, who were strategically
positioned, immediately swooped down on Licayan after he sold one bunch of dried marijuana leaves wrapped in a plastic cellophane weighing approximately one kilogram to a PDEA poseur-buyer in exchange for the buy-bust money.

The buy-bust operation took place in Andaya Street, Barangay Port Poyohan, New Asia, Butuan City.

A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being prepared for filing in court against Licayan.  (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
