DRUG GROUP LEADER, 4 MEMBERS ARRESTED IN OROQUIETA SEARCH

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested the leader of a local drug group and four of its members during lawful searches in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental on July 7, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspects as Zorabel Banga, alias Mamay, 38 years old, a nursing aide; Debbie Revil, 19; Romnick Maisog Gumatas, 27; Arnel Isidro Revil, 32; and Junevel Tacastacas, 31. All are residents of Purok 5, Barangay Talic, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.
Banga is the leader of Revil Drug Group, while Gumatas, the Revils and Tacastacas are members of the drug group.

At around 5:00 in the morning, joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 10 (PDEARO10) Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental Provincial Special Enforcement Teams under Director Wilkins Villanueva implemented three search warrants which resulted in the arrest of Banga, Gumatas, the Revils and Tacastacas in their houses in Barangay Talic.

Seized inside Banga’s house were 23 heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing approximately 15 grams, with an estimated street value of 37,500, while another 20 sachets of suspected shabu and one pack containing several empty sachets and cash, were confiscated inside the house of Gumatas. PDEA RO10 agents likewise recovered 26 more plastic sachets of the illegal drug weighing 30 grams worth P75,000 and several empty plastic sachets for repacking from Revil’s residence.

The operatives also seized inside Tacastacas’ house 540 plastic sachets of shabu weighing more or less 12 grams worth P30,000.

Moreover, a certain Jack Orong, who was in the house of Tacastacas during the search, was also arrested and has been found having seven pieces of live ammunition in his possession.

Banga, Gumatas, the Revils and Tacastacas will be charged for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II, of the Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Mr. Glenn J. Malapad, OIC, Public Information Office, PDEA)
