Libreng Wi-Fi para kay Juan

Kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), bubuksan na ng ICT Office ang pag-iimplementa sa libreng internet access sa mga lugar ng Quezon City at Maynila. Sinimulan ito noong July 22, 2015 kabahagi ng kanilang “Juan, Konek!” Digital Empowerment Program.

Napili ang lugar ng Quezon City at Maynila sa kadahilanang ito ang mga lugar na madalas na gawing pasyalan ng mga tao. Kabilang dito ang mga lugar ng Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City Hall, ang Philippine Coconut Authority (PhilCoA) Building, Social Security System (SSS) at ang Land Transportation Office sa lungsod Quezon at ang Rizal Park naman sa Maynila.

Inaasahan na ang may nasa 4,550 na concurrent users ngunit handa diumano ang opisina ng ICT na pagkalooban at mapanatili ang bilis ng connection na kakayanin pa ang may nasa 105, 000 pang users.

Makakatulong ang nasabing programa upang madaling maibahagi sa mga mamamayan ang mga impormasyon na kanilang kailangan lalo na sa pagbabalita at pagbibigay ng mga babala.(Freda Migano)
