Forum para sa kabuhayan ng PWD

Ang pagdiriwang ng National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) sa taong ito ay nakatutok hindi lamang sa pagpapalago sa kabuhayan ng Person With Disability (PWD) ngunit pati na rin sa pagsuporta sa kanilang kalusugan at kalagayan.

Ang PWD Empowerment through Health and Livelihood Forum na ginanap sa Bulwagang Amoranto Quezon City noong July 20 ay dinaluhan ng ilang stakeholders na sumusuporta sa karapatan ng PWD’s.

Ani ni New Vois Association of the Philippines (NVAP) President Emer Rojas na bahagi ang forum ng PWD Project, isang programang kanilang isinusulong at nakasaad din sa adhikain ng gobyerno para sa mga may kapansanan.

Ang proyektong ito ay naglalayong tulungang maiangat ang kabuhayan ng PWD’s sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay sa kanila ng kabuhayan at sa paghihikayat na makilahok sa iba’t-ibang negosyo.

Nakasaad sa Executjve Order No. 417 na nagbibigay importansya sa pagsuporta ng gobyerno sa pagpapakilala sa mga produkto at serbisyong hatid ng PWDs. Nasa mandato rin ang suportang technical at financial assistance sa mga nakalinyang proyektong pangkabuhayan para sa kanila.

Kasama rin sa isinusulong ng grupo ni Rojas ay ang pagtulong sa mga ito sa pagkakaroon ng maayos na kalusugan. Ayon pa kay Rojas, nakatulong daw ang pagpasa sa graphic health warning law upang mabigyan ng sapat na kaalaman ukol sa masamang dulot ng paninigarilyo sa mga tao kabilang ang PWDs.

Ang PWD Empowerment Program na ito ay susi upang magkaroon ng pagkaka-pantay-pantay sa antas ng pamumuhay ang lahat ng tao at walang maiiwang nakalugmok. (Freda Migano)
