Learn Startup Training ng DOST para sa IT at Eng’g Professors

Katuwang ang Philippine Software Industry Association, nagsasagawa ang Department of Science and Technology- Information and Communications Technology (DOST-ICT Office) ng serye ng Lean Startup 101 Boot Camps sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng bansa. ito ay upang pataasin ang kapasidad ng mga college professors sa pag-gabay sa kanilang mga mag-aaral sa maayos na pagtatatag ng mga start-up companies.

Una ng isinagawa ito noong June 4 sa Cebu City, June 20 sa Iloilo City at sa Baguio City noong July 4.

Ang mga natitirang serye ng Boot Camp ay sa July 18 sa lungsod ng Cagayan de Oro City, July 21 sa Quezon City, at sa Davao naman sa darating na July 25. Ito ang ikalawang magkasunod na taon na  isinagawa ng ICT Office ang serye ng mga boot camp na ito.

Ang workshop ay nagalalayon na matulungan ang mga propesor sa kolehiyo, lalo na ang nasa IT at Engineering courses, na maintindihan ang basic principles ng “Learn Startup”- isang pamamaraan sa pagni-negosyo na gimnamit din ng Facebook, Instagram at Dropbox sa pagsisimula ng mga ito.

Ang Learn Startup Methodology ay nakatutulong sa mga nagsisimulang founders o technopreneurs na mai-adapt ng mas mabilis ang kanilang mga negosyo sa mga kasalukuyang pangangailangan ng kanilang target market.

Nagsisilbi ring paghahanda ang boot camp na ito para sa mga kalahok sa 2015 bPhilippine Startup Challenge (PSC), isang kompetisyon para sa mga college students sa pagtataguyod ng “technopreneurship”.

Sa pahayag ni DOST Secretary Mario G. Montejo, matiim nilang kinikilala ang papel ng mga academic institutions sa paghihinang ng syensya at teknolohiya n gating bansa. At sa pamamagitan ng mga ganitong aktibidad, makakatulong ito upang mas makahikayat ng mga innovators sa pag-develop ng mga bagong produkto at serbisyo, particular sa larangan ng ICT.

Samantala, sinabi ni Emmy Lou Delfin, program manager ng ICT Office’s e-Innovation Group, na isa sa mga top priorities ng DOST ay ang maging malaking contributor ang mga kabataang mag-aaral sa pagtataguyod ng bansa. (S&T Media Service)(Freda Migano)
