Toka Toka Environment Council pormal ng inilunsad kasabay ang Lingap Sapa

Pormal ng inilunsad ang kauna-unahang Toka Toka Environmental Council ng Manila Water  ukol sa nagamit na tubig kung saan pinagsama  ang iba’t-ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno upang mapalawig ang kamalayan ng publiko  ukol sa pagprotekta ng kapaligiran at buhaying muli ang kailugan ng Metro Manila. Kabilang sa kukumpleto ng Toka Toka Environmental Council ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), lokal na pamahalaan ng San Juan at iba pang organisasyon.
Ang konseho ay ipinangalan kasunod ng programang Toka Toka ng silangang konsesyunaryo, ang kauna-unahang at natatanging adbokasiya sa bansa na nakatuon sa tamang pamamahala ng nagamit na tubig.
Bilang isang pangunahing proyekto ng Manila Water, ang council ay naglunsad ng Project Lingap Sapa upang paigtingin ang kilusang buhaying muli ang daluyan ng tubig sa Metro Manila.
“Nais ng Project Lingap Sapa na matulungan ang komunidad at gumawa ng kani-kaniyang ’toka’ upang makatulong na linisin ang kailugan at daluyan ng tubig at nararapat na may responsibilidad ang bawat isa na alagaan ang ating kapaligiran,” paliwanag ng Manila Water.
Ang Toka Toka Council ay nakatuon sa paglilinis ng Maytunas Creek na matatagpuan sa lungsod ng Mandaluyong at San Juan. Hinihikayat din ng konseho na sumali ang mga kalapit na komunidad at makibahagi sa “ Toka Toka Baranggay Champions”.
Ang programang Toka Toka ay layong hikayatin ang  bawat indibiwal at organisasyon, na  isagawa ang alinman sa apat na toka: (1) Magtapon ng basura sa tamang paraan; (2) Ipa-desludge o ipasipsip ang poso negro sa bahay; (3) Ipakonekta ang bahay sa sewer line ng Manila Water; (4) Suportahan ang mga proyekto ng Manila Water sa mga komunidad.
Bukod pa sa buwanang paglilinis ng mga estero at daluyan ng tubig na nilalahukan ng mga kabalikat na ahensiya, ang programa ay nagsasagawa rin ng mga information at education drive upang mas mapalawak ang kamalayan ng komunidad at masigurong makakatulong sa paglilinis ng kapaligiran.

Makikita sa larawan sina Manila Water President at CEO Gerardo C. Ablaza Jr. (pangwalo mula kaliwa) kasama si Chief Operating Officer ng Manila Water Operations Ferdinand Dela Cruz (una sa kaliwa) kasama ang mga pangunahing opisyal ng pamahalaan na sina MMDA General Manager Cora Jimenez, (pangpito mula kaliwa),DENR-EMB NCR Regional Director Vizminda Osorio (pangalawa mula kaliwa), DENR-NCR OIC Regional Director Lourdes Wagan (pang-apat mula kaliwa), San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez (panglima mula kaliwa), DPWH-NCR Engr. Mariel Vergara, DILG-NCR Regional Director Renato Brion at iba pang barangay chairman sa inilunsad na “Project Lingap Sapa” sa Brgy. Kabayanan sa lunsod ng San Juan.
