DOST-developed food processors on showcase at ASEAN food fair

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – developed food process equipment will be brought forward in the upcoming SIAL ASEAN 2015, pitting it out with the world’s “who’s who” in the global food industry.

SIAL, or Salon International de I’Agroalimentair, is the biggest and largest food exposition in the world and set to run June 17-19, 2015 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila. It provides the industry players a global platform in a business-to-business environment.

During the exposition, DOST will put up a Food Innovation Center booth that will showcase the DOST- developed equipment called the  spray dryer and vacuum fryer. Deployed in FICs in the regions, these equipment are designed for the local food processing industry through DOST’s High Impact Technology Solutions project. The FIC booth will offer free food taste of products processed using the equipment at the venue.

Running for three days, the SIAL ASEAN 2015 will gather exhibitors from around the world to meet local and regional buyers. The fair is eyed to strengthen the Philippines’ global dimension and role as a focal point and gateway contributing to the innovation of the food and beverage industry.

With the food giants from all over the world gathered in this one big event indeed provides an opportunity and a gateway for showcasing local and regional products and services.

The public is invited to check out DOST’s offerings at the SIAL ASEAN 2015. The event will also give a preview of other offerings to be highlighted in the upcoming National Science and Technology Week 2015 at the SMX Convention Hall July 24-28. (By Violy B. Conoza, S&T Medias Service, DOST-ITDI)
