Soviet Army ‘Defended Civilization’ in WWII – Lyndon LaRouche

Eight-time US presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche said that the role of the Soviet defense of civilization during the so-called World War II period still remains a crucial element of a struggle for all mankind.

WWII Victory Day Deserves Top Status in US – Veteran

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Soviet Union and Allied Forces’ victory over Nazi Germany made a critical contribution to the development of mankind, eight-time US presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche told Sputnik on Friday.

“The role of the Soviet defense of civilization during the so-called World War II period still remains a crucial element of a struggle for all mankind,” LaRouche said.

He added that the celebrations held in Moscow to mark 70 years since the victory in World War II “should be considered as necessary.”

LaRouche also lamented the lack of education among the adult and post-adolescent population of the “transatlantic powers” regarding the history of World War II.

The West has been impacted by a “political, moral, and scientific degeneration,” according to LaRouche.

He said that all of this led to “virtually little to no comprehension of the meaning of human life.”

LaRouche is a veteran of World War II and writes about improving US-Russia relations in the Executive Intelligence Review weekly, published by the LaRouche movement.

LaRouche claims he was used by the US President Ronald Reagan administration as an unofficial “back-channel” for negotiations with the Soviet Union in the 1980s.

In Moscow: Xi Jinping and Putin Combine the EEU and the Silk Road
Belt for a “Common Economic Space;” Many Accords Signed

May 8 (EIRNS)–Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese
leader Xi Jinping have signed a decree on cooperation, tying the
development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) with the “Silk
Road” economic project. “The integration of the Eurasian Economic
Union and Silk Road projects means reaching a new level of
partnership and actually implies a common economic space on the
continent,” Putin said after the meeting with his Chinese
counterpart, according to RT. The new paradigm unleashed by the
BRICS and China’s Silk Road projects has taken another huge leap
forward.
As part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the
Allied victory over fascism in World War II, Putin is hosting Xi
Jinping in Moscow this week. The two leaders oversaw the signing
of 32 accords today, including several which have been in the
works over the past year.
China will invest $5.8 billion into the construction of the
Moscow-Kazan High Speed Railway, a $21.4 billion project, Putin
reported. The railway is to be extended to China, connecting the
two countries through Kazakhstan.
Russia’ largest gas producer Gazprom and China’s National
Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) signed an agreement on the basic
conditions of gas supplies from Russia to China through the
Western route, the Altai pipeline. The two companies decided to
extend a strategic partnership agreement for five years,
according to Gazprom’s CEO Aleksey Miller.
A financing deal, signed today by the Russian Direct
Investment Fund (RDIF), the Russia-China Investment Fund and
China Construction Bank, will allow Russian companies to raise up
to $25 billion in the next two to three years at lower costs than
on the domestic market, the spokeswoman for RDIF said. To
facilitate trade in rubles and the yuan, Russia’s largest lender
Sberbank agreed with the China Development Bank Corporation to
set up a facility agreement worth $970 million for trade
purposes.

“We will focus on companies that are not under formal
sanctions but are having difficulties attracting money. We plan
to help companies that as a result of the current geopolitical
situation are experiencing problems attracting liquidity,” RDIF
chief Kirill Dmitriev said in televised remarks.
Russia’s state-owned VTB Bank and the Export-Import Bank of
China signed a $483.2 million loan facility agreement to finance
trading operations between Russia and China.
An agreement to create a leasing company which will promote
the sale of the Russian Sukhoi Superjet-100 passenger planes to
the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets over the next three years
has been set up. Russia and China will also develop a new heavy
helicopter, called the Advanced Heavy Lift. The helicopter will
be able to lift 38 tons and operate in mountain areas, performing
a variety of missions in any weather conditions.
Putin also said that Moscow welcomes Chinese companies
participation in resource extraction in the Arctic and Sakhalin
shelf.
Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the Russia-China
Investment Fund (RCIF), and the People’s Government of
Heilongjiang Province agreed today to launch a $2 billion fund
targeting investment in agricultural projects in both countries.
Russia and China also signed a framework cyber security deal.
The two countries agreed not to conduct cyber attacks against each
other, as well as to jointly counteract technology that could
create political or social disturbances.
The terror which this historic day provokes in the heart of
the City of London and Wall Street, is expressed in the following
hysterical editorial view published today in the {Financial
Times} of London: “Mr. Putin may hope that such arrangements can
help shield Russia from western sanctions. Yet, in his heart of
hearts, he must know that Beijing is not going to do Moscow any
favors. Beneath the inevitable show of camaraderie during Mr Xi’s
visit, the two countries remain deeply suspicious of each other…For

all these reasons, the west does not need to fret
too much about driving China and Russia into each other’s arms.
Russia is clearly the junior partner and the differences between
the two are as great as the forces that unite them.”
