QC BUSINESS TAX PAYMENTS WITHOUT PENALTIES UNTIL FEB. 2

Quezon City taxpayers have until February 2 to settle without penalties their annual and quarterly business tax obligations this year.

Considering that the January 31 payment extension deadline falls on a weekend, the first working day of February has now become the new deadline for city taxpayers.

QC Hall and all its treasury branches will be open until 12 midnight on February 2 to accept tax payments.

On orders of Mayor Herbert Bautista, the city government has already extended the working days and hours of the different offices involved in tax assessment and payments even on weekends in time for the first quarter deadline for the payment of business taxes and fees.

Mayor Bautista has already reminded taxpayers, particularly those renewing their business taxes, to take advantage of the expanded working days and hours instituted by the city government to avoid the rush during the February 2 deadline.

The city is imposing a 25% surcharge and a 2% monthly interest for late payments made.

The QC government has extended beyond January 20 the first quarter deadline for the payment of business taxes without penalties or surcharges to accommodate those who will be settling their tax obligations with the city.

An ordinance providing for a 10-day extension period for the first quarter tax payments has been approved by the QC Council.  The ordinance was principally authored by Councilor Godofredo Liban II.

Meanwhile, city administrator Aldrin Cuña reiterated his reminder to city taxpayers that they can make payments in the city’s five treasury department branches.

All low-risk establishments, such as sari-sari stores and business establishments with gross sale below P500,000 except partnerships  and corporations, may pay their taxes at these branches, which are located at Novaliches, La Loma, Cubao, Talipapa and Galas.

Aside from tax payments, Cuña said, all five treasury branches are also open to handle tax assessments, including those for real properties. (Precy)
