QC SIMPLIFIES PROCESSING OF EXCAVATION PERMITS

The Quezon City government, on orders of Mayor Herbert Bautista, has set up a one-stop-shop for the processing of excavation permits for public utilities in the city as part of a continuing effort to increase QC’s competitiveness ranking in terms of ease of doing business.

With the creation of the one-stop-shop, processing time to facilitate the processing of the required excavation permits will take not more than nine days.

“What the city doing is to eliminate red tape and standardize the time and procedure in the issuance of excavations permits,” the Mayor said.

The simplification process, as provided under Executive Order 1 issued by the Mayor on January 20, shall cover and include all public utilities to be installed within the city, such as, but not limited to, pole locations, water lines, sewer lines and other utilities.

Reception, evaluation, processing and releasing of excavation permits for public utilities are being handled by the department of building official in coordination with the engineering department.

As provided under the Mayor’s newly-issued executive order, the department of building official, headed by Engr. Isagani Verzosa Jr. has been tasked to lead and implement the provisions of the new order.

The city government has already furnished the Office of the President and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) with a copy of the executive order for information and guidance.

Aside from simplifying the process of issuing excavation permits and clearances, the city government has simplified the process of issuing building permits and the process of doing business in the city by connecting and operationalizing the Philippine Business Registry to provide a faster process for business registration in the city.
