QC HALL STEPS UP ANTI-FIXER DRIVE

No one is above the law.

Mayor Herbert M. Bautista has warned all fixers that the law makes Quezon City Hall off limits to them, most especially during tax payment seasons.

Mayor Bautista, during a regular executive meeting, said that fixers should be  put behind bars and  city hall employees who are in cahoots with them should face charges.

He also said that city hall employees who act as fixers should also be punished like any other fixer who is caught redhanded.

“We should not tolerate this wrongdoing by our workers. Cases against those employees who act as fixers should push thru even if they return the money from the complainant,” the Mayor said.

Mayor Bautista said that he wants a total transformation of QC not only in infrastructure and economy but also for moral and ethical standards of public servants.

Fixers usually operate during the January to March period for business and real property tax payments.

At present, QC Hall has already extended working hours to accommodate the influx of taxpayers who want to  meet the deadline, especially for business permit, on January 20.

The mayor has already ordered “no holiday” for  revenue generating offices including City Administrator (CA), City Treasury Office (CTO) and QC Information  Technology and Development  Office (QCITDO) to attend to tax payments on January 15 to 19 although Malacañang had declared January 15, 16, and 19 as special non-working holidays because of the visit to the Philippines of His Holiness Pope Francis.
