QC URGES LOCAL BUSINESS SECTOR TO HELP CREATE NEW GROWTH AREAS

 

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has invited QC investors to partner with the city government in developing new growth centers like the Novaliches-Lagro area in District 2.

 

Speaking before representatives of the QC business community in the city’s Top Taxpayers awards night at the Crown Plaza Hotel ballroom, Mayor Bautista said their involvement is very important in creating more business opportunities and jobs.

 

He said that the Novaliches-Lagro area has the potential to be like Ortigas in attracting big businesses.

 

He also said that the city government would like to build a QC convention center as a public-private partnership project.

 

The Mayor congratulated and thanked the city’s new top taxpayers for their big contribution to QC’s economic growth. He described the business- honorees at the awards night as “a new breed of awardees.”

 

In celebration of Quezon City’s 72nd founding anniversary, the city’s Top Taxpayers’ Night honored 24 big businesses grouped into 8 batches according to business classification.

 

This year’s top taxpayer-awardees are: 1st Batch (wholesalers) – MSI-ECS Phils., Inc.; Benby Enterprises, Inc.; and Philchema, Inc.;

 

2nd Batch (retailers) – International Toy World, Inc.; Goldilocks Bakeshop, Inc.; and Oriental and Motolite Marketing Corp.;

 

3rd Batch (car dealers) – Autohaus Quezon City, Inc.; Industrial and Transport Equipment, Inc. (INTECO); and MGM Motors Trading, Inc.;

 

4th Batch (amusement) – Leisure and Allied Industries Phils., Inc.; L & B International tourist Hotel, Inc.; and Trinoma Bistro Americano Corp.;

 

5th Batch (financial institutions) – Citibank, NA; The Philippine American Life; and Sun Life of Canada Phils., Inc.;

 

6th Batch (restaurants) – Velvet Foods Corp.; PSMT Philippines, Inc.; and Triple L Food Corp.;

 

7th Batch (contractors) – IDS Philippines, Inc.; Maxima Machineries. Inc.; and Television and Production Exponents (TAPE);

 

8th Batch (real property) – TELUS; Red Ribbon Bakeshop, Inc.; and Sulu Hotel Corporation.

 

Speaking for the taxpayer-awardees, Mr. Raul M. Ang, president of Maxima Machineries, said: “We are very happy and proud of the present financial situation of Quezon City.” He assured Mayor Bautista that the awardees will continue to support and lend a helping hand to economic development efforts of the city government.
