The long and strenuous surveillance operations conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Bicol Region finally paid off with the arrest of a notorious pusher in Sorsogon.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez, Jr. identified the arrested suspect as Lemuel Gayoso, alias Limpot, 39, a resident of Zone 2, Bulan, Sorsogon.
Gayoso was arrested by operatives of PDEA Regional Office 5 under Director Archie Grande in collaboration with the local police. Gayoso sold four pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu to an undercover PDEA agent for P1,000. Aside from the plastic sachets of shabu and the P1,000 peso bill used as buy-bust money, also confiscated from Gayoso was a green Kawasaki Fury 125 MC bearing plate number 4477 EK used during the transaction.
Gayoso is presently detained in PDEA RO5 awaiting inquest proceedings for violation of Sections 5 (selling) and 11 (possession) Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Records check revealed that two drug charges for violation of RA 6425 or the Dangerous Drug Act of 1972 have been previously filed against Gayoso before the Regional Trial Courts Makati and Manila. However, he was permitted to post bail in relation to his drug case filed in Makati and he was granted probation by the Manila court.
