Rendering community service and conducting projects in a barangay where basic services are needed will enhance the sense of discipline, patriotism, responsibility, loyalty and efficiency between and among government employees.
With this is mind, Councilor Ranulfo Ludovica urged Mayor Herbert Bautista to require all department and office heads of the QC Government to adopt a one barangay or area where city employees will be encouraged to conduct community service or projects.
The councilor said such community service of projects will be a gesture of gratitude for the benefits and privileges being received or enjoyed by the city employees from the city government. He added that it is fitting to encourage said employees to render community service or conduct valuable projects as a manifestation of the city government’s sincere desire to improve the lives of the barangay residents.
Ludovica said that working in the government is not a right but a mere privilege and has a corresponding solemn duty to serve the people with utmost dedication and fidelity even beyond regular working hours or legal holidays in the interest of public service.
“Employment in the government is indeed in the nature of public service whose primary concern is to foster common good,” Ludovica said.
The Councilor said that these chosen barangays or areas in Quezon City must be those which are in need of basic social services and beneficial projects to uplift the economic condition of their constituents, or seeking to institute further barangay development, but due to limited personnel and resources, remain unfulfilled.
Community service includes planting of trees or vegetables, cleaning of streets and drainage system, providing primary health care, livelihood trainings and seminars and the like. Divine/ Maureen Quiñones, PAISO, QC
