QC TEAM WINS INTER-AGENCY BASKETBALL FINALS

Quezon City Hall ruled the 2nd Philippine Heart Center Director’s Cup by beating the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), 96 – 72, in the finals of an inter-agency basketball tournament held recently at the Quezon Memorial Circle covered court.

The QC team was powered by a selection of basketball standouts from the QC Hall Employees Athletic Association (QCHEAA) to defeat the visiting NTC dribblers in the one-game championship match.

The 14-man QC basketball team was only leading by a point at the half before stepping the gas pedal in the third and fourth quarters as QC was able to break the NTC line of defense.

“Defense was the key,” said team manager and QCHEAA chairman Ramon Matabang, the QC civil registry chief.

The QC team, coached by Architect Pedro “Sonny” Rodriguez, is composed of Rodel Torres, Mark Amper (mythical five), Manny de Leon, Tommy Caballero; Bong Rasos, Ochnelle Lacambra, Henry Bawag (most valuable player), RJ Sibayan, Bobby Navarette, Jessie Tariga,  Melchor Bumagat, Ryan De Mesa, Michael Cordero and Marvin Tejada.

Organized by the Phil. Heart Center Employees Association – Alliance of Health Workers, the tournament was also participated in by basketball teams fielded by PHC, Social Security System (SSS), National Grid Corporation and Transmission Commission. Precy/ Ej/ Maureen Quiñones, PAISO
