QC TO LAUNCH “CHRISTMAS IN JULY” JOB FAIR

The Quezon City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has partnered with TeleDevelopment call center and BPO support services for its Christmas-inspired “Trabahong Handog Para sa Quezon City”, a call center job fair to be held on Saturday July 23, 2011 3pm to 12 midnight at the QC Hall covered walk.

PESO chief Carlo Magno E. Abella said that this call center job fair is in coordination with Department of Labor and Employment – QC field office (DOLE-NCR-QCFO) and the QC-Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (QC-TIPC).

Abella said that the “Trabahong Handog Para sa Quezon City ” will be called “The 1st Christmas in July” job fair due to its night-market like job hunting set-up different from the usual work fair done at daytime.

Unlike the previous job fair, “Trabahong Handog Para sa Quezon City ” will be arranged in a holiday mood where decorations and displays are associated with Christmas.

To feel the atmosphere of giving and to experience the spirit of Christmas in the middle of the year, raffle prizes will be given to registered jobseekers during the program. Fashion shows, parlor games and a live band concert will also highlight the event.

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has lauded PESO on its efforts to boost the poverty alleviation drive of the city government. He assured the PESO that his administration will continue its pro-poor thrusts by improving the standard of living in the city’s urban poor communities.

To date, the Bautista administration has successfully undertaken 58 job hunting sessions including 5 mega jobs fair, 35 barangay based work search assembly and 18 call center job-related fairs participated in by 50 to 70 companies which offered local and foreign jobs.

The job fair program of the city government has benefited 50% of registered work hunters, providing jobs to 10% of jobseekers on the spot.
