QC COUNSELING CENTERS IMINUNGKAHI PARA SA MGA BUNTIS NA TEENAGER

Sa pagnanais na matulungan ang mga buntis na teenager at ang kanilang magiging anak, hiniling ng isang first term Quezon City councilor kay QC Mayor Herbert Bautista na magtalaga ng teenage counseling center sa tatlong distrito ng siyudad.

Sinabi ni Councilor Jesica Castelo Daza, ng ika-apat na distrito, sa inihain nitong panukalang resolusyon na ang mga itatayong centers ay magbibigay ng counseling services at magsisilbing referral facilities para sa mga buntis na teenager.

Ayon kay Daza, madalas na walang matakbuhan o mahingan ng payo ang mga kabataang babae ukol sa kanilang maagang pagbubuntis.

“In some cases, pregnant teens simply hide their pregnancy from everyone and worry too much when they can no longer hide their bulging bellies,” ani Daza.

Nagagawa aniya nila ito dahil sa pangamba na kukutyain sila, walang kakampi o magtatanggol at makikinig sa kanilang hinaing ukol sa kanilang kalagayan.

Sinabi pa ni Daza na kadalasang itinatago ng nakararami sa mga kabataan na ito ang kanilang maagang nagbubuntis sa halip na sabihin ito sa kanilang pamilya o kaibigan.

Idinagdag ng Konsehala na dala na rin ng pagtaas ng bilang ng teen pregnancies, kailangang magkaroon ng teenage counseling centers na may counselor, advocates o social workers na magpapayo sa mga magiging ina.

Maaari ring magbigay ang mga counselor ng moral support at magsilbing mediator sa pagitan ng kabataan at kanilang magulang o sa pagitan ng teenager at ng ama ng magiging anak nito.

Noong 2009, pinasinayaan ng noon ay naka-upong Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., ang unang center para sa kabataan na tinawag na Teen Headquarters sa Cubao.

Kabilang sa mga medical services na ibinibigay ng Teen Headquarters ay medical at dental consultations, pre at post natal care, breast examinations, gynecological dysfunction treatments, counseling on responsible parenthood, family planning at reproductive health maintenance.
