MMDA URGED TO INSTALL MORE QC ROAD CCTVs, SIGNS

An actor-comedian turned Councilor has asked the Metro Manila development Authority (MMDA) to install more CCTV cameras, additional street lamps and reflectorized traffic signs along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

Second district Councilor Roderick Paulate is the author of an approved city council resolution urging the MMDA to put up additional CCTV cameras, street lamps and traffic signs on all other major and national roads in QC to minimize road accidents and catch violators of traffic rules.

Paulate said that recent news reports showed that almost everyday a vehicular accident occurred in Commonwealth Avenue .

Most of these accidents happened during  nighttime due to inadequacy of street lamps and reflectorized traffic signs like u-turn slots, road barriers, and also because of newly constructed road islands and fences, flyovers and footbridges.

Paulate said that to prevent the recurrence of road accidents on all roads supervised by the MMDA within Quezon City and to ensure public safety, there is an imperative need to adopt certain precautionary measures. As suggested in the QC council resolution. Maureen Quiñones, PAISO
