Mga Aprikano Magsasanay sa Pilipinas ukol sa Pagpapalay

 

Ang PhilRice ay magsasanay ng 25 na extension workers o EWs mula sa Sub-Saharan Africa o SSA o sa bansang tulad ng Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, at Kenya. Ito ay naisakatuparan sa pamamagitan ng letter of agreement sa pagitan ng International Rice Research Institute o IRRI at Japan International Cooperation Agency o JICA.

 

Ang pagsasanay ay nagsimula noong Hunyo 20 at magtatapos sa Oktubre kung saan patungkol ito sa mga istratehiya sa pagpapalaganap ng teknolohiya gayundin ang mga tamang pamamaraan ng pagtatanim ng palay upang maitaas ang produksyon sa kontinenteng panagalawa sa pinakamalaki at pinakamaraming populasyon.

 

Ayon kay Lea Abaoag, nangunguna sa nasabing pagsasanay, ituturo ng PhilRice ang Sistemang PalayCheck at Palayaman kung saan ang mga matututunan ay ibabahagi rin nila sa Farmers’ Field School o FFS  na isasagawa sa anim na komunidad sa Talugtog, Nueva Ecija.

 

Maliban dito, ituturo rin ang pag-oorganisa, pagsusulat, pagbabahagi, at pagtatala ng mga aktibidad sa pagsasanay at pagpapalay.

 

Ang pagsasanay na ito ay pinondohan ng bansang Japan sa halagang 4 na milyong dolyar na pinangunahan ng Coalition for Africa Rice Development na may layuning mapataas ang ani ng palay sa bansang Africa, sa kadahilanang tumaas ng anim na porsyento ang mga kumukonsumo ng kanin. Samantala, umaabot din ng humigit 3.6 na bilyong piso ang nagagastos ng nasabing bansa sa pag-iimport lamang ng bigas. Yen Solsoloy, PhilRice
