QC HALL STUDYING EARLY RETIREMENT PLAN

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista is studying the possibility of offering an early retirement package for city hall employees to ensure that QC will have a highly-aggressive and computer-literate workforce.

The Mayor instructed the city personnel and budget offices to carefully study the proposal which the city government hopes to implement in 2013 during the final phase of the implementation of the salary standardization bill.

“We would like to infuse and harness new people into our system of governance to achieve greater public efficiencies.  What we need are people whose line of specialization are in the field of information technology since my goal is for more of our communication to be paperless and for more of our publics to be able to interact with the city government, from the comfort of their homes or offices,” the Mayor said.

QC hall employees who are very near the retirement age will be among the first to benefit from the program once the city government starts its implementation,” said city budget officer Marian Orayani.

“If the city finds the proposal feasible, the budget office is willing to provide the needed appropriations,” Orayani said.

According to the QC budget officer, the program would entail additional funding requirements since the city government will also provide payment for the social security benefits and other claims of the employees seeking early retirement. -30- Precy/ Ej/ Maureen Quinoñes, PAISO
