The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) launched a nationwide anti-drug hotline in collaboration with one of the leading telecommunications company in the country.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez, Jr. announced the partnership between PDEA and SMART Communication, Incorporated with the launching of PDEA-SMART Infoboard Service.
The PDEA-SMART Infoboard Service is the fastest, most reliable and affordable means to send anti-drug information and collect feedback from stakeholders. It allows PDEA to send out information on results of anti-drug efforts initiated by the agency. At the same time, the system also provides a venue for the general public to report to PDEA any suspected illegal drug activities in their community.
Gutierrez said the partnership is in line with PDEA’s effort to generate and maximize the active participation of the communities in the campaign against illegal drugs. Gutierrez is optimistic that the public will be encouraged to work hand in hand with PDEA in enforcing the anti-drug law by providing timely and reliable information through the use of the PDEA-SMART Text Hotline.
The PDEA-SMART Text Hotline maintains a special number to facilitate easy recall. SMART and Talk and Text (TNT) subscribers may send their comments, suggestions, queries and reports concerning suspected illegal drug activities in their community by texting PDEA<space>FEEDBACK<space><NAME OF SENDER>/<AGE>/<BARANGAY>/<CITY or MUNICIPALITY>/<Region>/<drug-related information> to 700PDEA (7007332). On the other hand, Globe, TM, Sun Cellular and Red Mobile subscribers, may use the number 0999-888PDEA (0999-8887332). -30- RAFFY RICO
