The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) simultaneously dismantled three (3) illegal drug facilities in separate locations in one day which resulted in the arrest of three (3) Chinese nationals and four (4) Filipinos involved in financing, manufacturing and distributing dangerous drugs in Metro Manila and adjacent provinces.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez, Jr. said that the successful operations on June 30, 2011 in Quezon City, Antipoloand Pampanga were result of intensive intelligence build-up operations conducted by joint elements of the PDEA Intelligence and Investigation Service (IIS), Special Enforcement Service (SES), Metro Manila Regional Office (MMRO) and Regional Office 3.
In Block 6, Lot 2, Irvin Place 1, Filinvest East Homes, Antipolo City, Rizal, PDEA operatives dismantled a kitchen-type laboratory and arrested one (1) Chinese national, Lawrence Yu, along with two (2) Filipinos, Elmer Doctor and Kisses Dela Cruz. Confiscated from the suspects were eight (8) self-sealed plastic bags containing white powdery substance suspected to be shabu, four (4) self-sealed plastic bags containing crystalline substances also suspected to be shabu, three (3) self-sealed plastic bags containing tablets, assorted chemicals and various laboratory equipment and paraphernalia. Also recovered were one (1) unit of Black Ford F150 with plate number WSU 727 and one (1) unit Nissan Sentra with plate number XRT 619.
In a simultaneous operation conducted in LNS Body Kits located at 1326 E. Rodriguez Sr., corner Balate Drive, Quezon City, a facility utilized as a major distribution hub for illegal drugs was dismantled. Herbert Yu, a Chinese national, was arrested together with his Filipino bodyguard, Agustin Longganay. The suspects yielded (2) self-sealed plastic bags containing suspected cocaine, two (2) units of computer CPU, high-powered guns with ammunitions and assorted hand and riffle grenades. PDEA operatives also recovered a White Hummer H2 vehicle with a plate bearing number 8.
Meanwhile, another kitchen-type laboratory was dismantled in Barangay Sta. Monica, Sta. Rita, Pampanga. Said laboratory, used for small-scale production of shabu, yielded two (2) heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, assorted chemicals and one (1) unit Black Honda Civic with plate number XHZ 466. Ali Ang alias “Peter Chu”, a Chinese national suspected to be responsible for cooking shabu was arrested along with Marouf Kasan, brother of Ang’s live-in partner. According to records, Ang was arrested in ARMM sometime in 2009 for the same offense, manufacturing shabu, but was subsequently released due to technical reasons.
All seven (7) suspects are presently detained at the MMRO detention facility inside the PDEA National Headquarters Compound in Quezon City and appropriate cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The PDEA Laboratory Service is conducting quantitative and qualitative examination of the confiscated substances and chemicals. RAFFY RICO
