Understanding emerging and new markets as well as instruments such as free trade agreements (FTAs) will help exporters address new challenges in the global business environment. Addressing the demand of the industry to know more about the benefits of FTA, a second round of information sessions on Doing Business in Free Trade Areas (DBFTA) 2011 was launched last 31 March at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC).
This year’s DBFTA sessions will include presentations on market opportunities, including non-tariff measures, in the country’s FTA markets; tariff rates of top exports for each sector under the FTAs, rules of origin, open forum, as well as business testimonials. Help desks will also be made available after each session to provide assistance at the company level.
Exporters, importers, brokers, freight forwarders, business support groups, civil society, NGOs, government agencies, academe, and the media are expected to attend. DBFTA information sessions will also be held in Subic, Clark, Cebu, Davao, Laguna, Aklan, Legaspi, Dipolog, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Dagupan, and Baguio.
Registration and materials are free. For information on the Doing Business in Free Trade Areas, contact 833.9913 or 468.8962 or visit www.pttc.gov.ph
