PDEA SMASHES SHABU LAB IN LIPA

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) nets its second clandestine shabu laboratory in two (2) consecutive days, fortifying its bid to demolish the core of drug activities that dare to test the mettle of their mandate.

In his report to PDEA Director General/Undersecretary JOSE S. GUTIERREZ, JR., Director Jeffrey A. Bangsa, Regional Director of PDEA Regional Office 4A said that the joint operation was conducted by elements of PDEA 4A, the Special Enforcement Service (SES), Intelligence and Investigation Service (IIS), Interagency Counternarcotics Operations Network (ICON), PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) and Lipa City Police Station on February 25, 2011.

Anti-narcotics agents and police authorities were armed with Search Warrant number 11-17304 issued by Hon. Amor A. Reyes. Executive Judge, RTC Branch 21 in Manila against “BENJIE ANG”, a Chinese national and an alleged member of “Hong Shi Peng Drug Group”, at around 3PM in his residence located at #1834 Yokohama St. Sakura Executive Subdivision, Brgy. Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas. Unfortunately, Ang was nowhere in sight.

The operation resulted in the seizure of containers and bottles carrying chemicals and precursors used in the manufacture of shabu such as Sodium Chloride, Red Phosporus, Sodium Acetate and Hydrochloric Acid. Recovered also, were assorted laboratory equipment and traces of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Last February 24, 2011, PDEA busted a makeshift shabu laboratory in Caloocan City and arrested three (3) Chinese nationals in the process.

The confiscated pieces of drug evidence were brought to the Laboratory Service for qualitative and quantitative examination. Charges for violation of Section 8 (Manufacture of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of RA 9165 were filed against the suspect. -30- (RAFFY RICO/JIMMY CAMBA)
