QC COUNCIL OKAYS BUSINESS DATA REGISTRY PORTAL ORDINANCE

Do you need information on a certain business firm, or on how to start a business?  Or do you want to know if a business entity is legitimate, and any other information on virtually anything that has to do with making one’s business work in Quezon City ?

Look no further, for the QC Council has passed an ordinance filed by fourth district Councilor Edcel “Grex” Lagman Jr., creating a business data registry accessible via internet.

Lagman said that the project, which is the first in the Philippines , will make use of the advances in information and communications technology to help anyone from any part of the world access information on how to do business in Quezon City .

The business data registry portal will also make QC government the most business-friendly government agency.

Traders and suppliers, whether domestic or international, can also identify prospective markets whose business operations are located in QC simply by logging on to the said portal.

The portal also protects both the consumers and the business sector as it provides information on whether a particular business entity is duly registered with the QC Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).

“Any individual, consumer or  business person, can easily check whether a particular business entity is legal or unscrupulous by simply visiting the business portal,” Councilor Lagman explained.

Lagman, chairman of the city council’s committee on education and science and technology, said it will also be easy for the QC government to monitor and update business registration using this portal.

An amount of P25 million of the annual collection from business operators in QC since 2002, which is being held in trust, will be used for developing the software and hardware to run the business data registry portal.

The portal will be a joint endeavor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and the QC government through its BPLO.

“It is high time for the QC government to give back the best possible service to its business people through this groundbreaking project,” Councilor Lagman concluded.
